Kals is located at the foot of Austria's highest mountain, the Grossglockner (3798m) at 1325m above sea level.

Native, experienced and trained mountain and ski guides are at your disposal at the Bergführervereinigung Kals.
At the end of the valley, on the way to Hotel Gradonna, is "Hood Wood", the archery course for young and old. An ideal trip with the family, but also for experienced marksmen. In addition to a training area there is a course with animals around the campsite. Of course, there is an introduction for inexperienced, material will be provided.
At the same place you will also find a place for ax throwing.
No matter if you are the adrenaline biker and want to lay down a breathtaking downhill at the Kalser "Gorneralmtrail" or whether you want to do a leisurely day tour through the beauties of the Kals landscape.
The possibilities range in Kals from beginners to specialists.
In the sports shops you can rent bikes, "Glockner Adventures" offers tours, MTB camps for children and teenagers, private training and private guiding. Of course, you can also explore the Kalser nature all by yourself at your own pace.
This new sport is a breathtaking adventure for water rats. "Glockner Adventures" will make an introduction with you at the Tristacher See, then it goes on the Drau down to Oberdrauburg. Fun factor guaranteed and ideal on hot summer days.
Six old mills were preserved, they are 250 - 300 years old. The mills are within walking distance of Villa Emilia.
In the summer there is a regular commissioning of the mills and the sale of home-baked bread. Once a year, a mill festival takes place in the summer.
Also just a few minutes from the house is the Owlpath. It starts where the old mills stand and continues almost to the Hotel Tauer in Burg. A sensory experience and much information, especially made for children, but also very interesting for adults.
In Kals there is a handicraft shop selling traditional products as well as a museum. On religious holidays, processions take place in which the fire brigade, the Tyrolean shooters and the folk costume band are present. Christian traditions are still actively practiced in Kals and are a special experience for our guests. In summer numerous concerts take place in the bandstand.
In Kals you will find a grocery store (M-price in Ködnitz). This is open every day except Sunday.
There are also several sports shops. SPORT MICHL in the heart of Großdorf and SPORT GRATZ next to the gondola. There you can also hire ski, cross country or snowboard equipment and sledges.
